That is the easiest way that I can summarize Galatians 2:19-21
19For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. 20I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”. Grace can't be gained through the law... not by any deed(act or work).
I came across this verse as a result of a song by Katalyst on youtube called Goodbye(meaning goodbye to the flesh-ly nature) and welcoming all of Christ in. I posted the phrase "It's no longer I that lives but Christ inside" as a status update on facebook, did a google search on the phrase, and found out that it's a Bible verse from Galatians.
