This may or may not be a controversial topic/issue... if it is and if you don't agree with what I am about to say, I'm sorry. I'm not judging you, I'm just saying what God revealed to me through someone I respect.
Do not listen to ungodly music.
What is ungodly music?
Any type of music that does not glorify God... that simple.
Why?
Here are two verses from the Bible supporting my view.
1. Ephesians 5:11
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
Interpretation: Do not(as a believer) associate yourself with anything of the enemy's camp(especially his music) because whether you like it or not, it will pull you away from God... definitely. Anything that isn't good is evil... there is no middle ground with the devil(and his ex-ministry - music)
2. 2 Corinthians 6:14
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
Interpretation: How can you a believer be yoked(joined together) with something that is not from God. Yes this verse has several meanings and can be used to also warn people from sexual immorality, working for anti-God people, etc... but here, it applies to music.
That's it.
Like I said, I'm not judging you... the Holy Spirit will convict you of this matter if you let him... I threw out my crappy CD's (years ago probably) and what I mean by ungodly, I mean everything non-gospel.
Am I saying everything non-gospel is evil? NO. Just be cautious.
